CORD coalition principal Raila Odinga has denied claims that former Gichugu lawmaker and Nark Kenya party leader Martha Karua has ditched the opposition coalition.
Addressing a press conference on Friday at his Capital Hill office, the former Premier said that Karua was never in the Cord in the first place and there is no way she could defect from a coalition she is not part of.
''Martha Karua is a leader of her own political party, she has been just a friend of the Cord coalition and i don't see why people are saying that she has ditched the Cord coalition. We were just working together on the Okoa Kenya initiative," said Odinga.
Karua has been in the last several years working with the opposition and condemning the government whenever she felt it was wrong. She was also thought to be part of the upcoming opposition mega-coalition NASA.
However,on Thursday, she announced that she will be supporting President Uhuru's re-election bid.She at the same time made it clear that her party will remain independent and not merge into Jubilee.
''My people know where they will put their votes,it is okay to vote me for Governor on a Nark Kenya ticket and support President Uhuru on a Jubilee party ticket," said Karua.
Karua who lost in 2013 presidential election finishing a distant 6th has also announced that she will be vying for the Kirinyaga gubernatorial post on her Nark-K party ticket.
She has now become the second former Presidential aspirant to support Uhuru's re-election and opt for governorship.
