ODM Deputy Party leader Wycliffe Oparanya now claims he will succeed his party boss Raila Odinga as the President of Kenya in 2022.

Oparanya, the Bungoma Governor, said Raila must win the forthcoming August polls because 2022 will be his turn to run for top seat.

Speaking during a public rally at Lusheya market in Mumias East constituency, the Governor noted that the former Prime Minister has committed to be a one-term transitional President.

“I have told Raila that he must make sure he does not miss the target this time because he has one bullet. If he misses again, I will try my luck for the top seat because I have also supported him,” Oparanya said on Tuesday.

His pronouncement could ignite turf wars with NASA principals Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), Moses Wetang’ula ( Ford Kenya), and Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper) who have also expressed interest in succeeding Raila in 2022 if NASA wins.

Oparanya will be defending his seat in the general elections slated for August 8 this year.
