The NASA principal and ODM party leader Raila Amollo Odinga has really changed.
Even the closest of his friends or those who thought to be his close friends are very much wondering about his latest game plan.
Since the mighty handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta, Raila has taken to shaking hands of many politicians who many knew as his sworn enemies the latest being Former President Daniel Moi.
Since the reign of President Daniel Moi when Raila and other rebels to his regime were detained and tortured, there has been a perceived bad blood between the two and there recent meeting and handshake truly proves a national healing.
If you are wondering why Raila is going through this endless circle of national reconciliation, the three likely reasons are:
1. For his legacy
For a strong political leader like Raila who have fought for this country for ages, legacy is paramount.
The opposition leader might be warming up for his retirement from active politics and thus has endeavoured to meant old fences and leave a peaceful united nation.
2. For 2022 presidency
So far the former prime minister has not come out to declare publicly that he will not vie in 2022 general elections.
With the recent reconciliations and meetings at his office, he might have just changed tact and devised a new way to win the 2022 presidency.
3. He is seeking someone to endorse for 2022 presidency
The ODM party leader might be planning to exit active politics and a man of his calibre with a huge national following must definitely endorse someone.
His voice really matters in 2022 presidency if he will not contest and whoever he will endorse will stand a better chance of winning.
