President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto have proven that they are not ready to solve historical land injustices at the Coast, Nasa leaders in Kwale County have said.
The Nasa leaders have asked the residents from the region to back gormer Prime Minister Raila Odinga, arguing that Jubilee leaders have nothing more to offer them even if they win in October 26 election.
Led by Senator Issa Boy, Msambweni MP Suleiman Dori, Kinango’s Benjamin Tayari and Matuga MP Kassim Tandaza, the lawmakers said that economy of the Coastal region will suffer if Jubilee retains power after the fresh election.
Tayari said that the government had not shown good will in the fight against land grabbers, and urged residents to snub Uhuru during the voting period.
“They want a tycoon to take over school land. That’s the Jubilee administration’s plan. We shouldn’t give them any votes,” he said, as quoted by the local daily.
On his part, Dori said that he has visited the president on several occasions, but his trips have not borne any fruits.
He also said that Jubilee will have an uphill task to garner votes from the Coast residents.
“You can’t tell us to support JP, yet our people are suffering. Let me tell you, my people, Uhuru won’t solve land problems since he is part of it,” said Tayari.
