With less than two months to the next general elections, intense rivalry has continued to play out in the Mavoko Parliamentary race.

Michael Mutuku, Mavoko ODM parliamentary candidate has rubbished claims by MP Patrick Makau that Former prime minister Raila Amolo Odinga endorsed him to defend the seat in the forthcoming general elections.

The aspirant said that the incumbent has touch with the local residents, adding that his days in the political arena are numbered.

“How on earth can a leader of a political party support the candidature of an opponent while his own party has a candidate for the same position?” he said, as quoted by Star.

The vocal aspirant, who was addressing a public rally at Slota slum, Athi River town, on Tuesday, asked the legislator to account for the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and other projects he claims he has initiated in the area since he took over leadership of the area following the last general elections.

“We wonder where Mavoko CDF goes, there are no tangible projects implemented by the fund since 2013,” he added. Makau has, however, downplayed claims that he has misused CDF after he took over power.

“How is it possible for someone to steal from the fund when there are many actors and signatories involved, including government officials? Hiyo ni fitina, na haita wapeleka mahali,” said Makau.
