Estranged Kenyan business mogul Don Bosco Ooga has for the first time in as many months spoken from Tanzania's Arusha prison.

Facing money laundering and fraud related crimes, Ooga has however seen his freedom limited for the last five years without being convicted of the voluminous allegations.

"They released me before yet again arresting me when I was trying to run away upon release,' he narrated to the Nation lat last year.

Going without attending the funeral for his mother and seeing his brief freedom carjoled by Tanzanian authorities, Bosco's story has been that of 'so close but yet far'.

In his New Year message, the businesman cum politician called for unity, friendship among Kenyans.

"Embrace unity, peace, friendship and thank God for the Gift of life. Every moment is a journey and steps made are worthy the moment."

Bosco once came into public limelight when he donated the famous Hammer for Raila Odinga's 2007 campaigns.

Since his arrest in 2013, various leaders including Raila and Kalonzo Musyoka have been pushing for his release in the multinational case that seems never to culminate, with efforts to have Tanzanian President John Magufuli intervene yet to materialize.
