Homabay Women Representative Glady's Wanga has defended President Uhuru Kenyatta over his withheld confession in last week's national apology.
In his State of the Nation address in Parliament on Wednesday, President Kenyatta offered his apologies to Kenyans with regards to his political moves, especially before and during the concluded August 8 and October 26 elections, but failed to directly mention his wrongdoings.
The move raised political questions, with a section of political players terming his request as conditional.
However, Wanga now says that Kenyans whom he offended should grant his request in line with the national forgiveness initiative.
She stressed on the need for the nation to do away with its conflicts and disagreements and embrace the national cohesion campaign founded by the President and opposition leader Raila Odinga in a bid to overcome its political and social wrangles.
''We should not question the President's apology as it was sincere and took great courage. His decision to humbly request for forgiveness is a big move which each and every Kenyans should emulate,'' said Wanga during an interview on Radio Citizen on Sunday.
She, however, faulted the Head of State for not addressing a number of important national issues in his speech, including the ongoing floods which continue to wreak havoc in many parts of the country.
''It was a big miss for him to not touch on the ongoing floods and his government's response and the long-term solutions he seeks to introduce,'' said the Women rep.
