Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang has faulted the National Super Alliance (NASA) top brass for giving governors the mandate to lead campaigns, arguing that they are likely to give President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto another term in office.

The senator also said that governors have been put on the spot over wrong reasons by their opponents, which can be costly to the alliance.

“This might not go well with supporters of other governor candidates and might not yield much positive results for NASA,” he said, as Star quoted.

Different leaders aligned to NASA have continued to express mixed reaction in relation to the team chosen to spearhead Presidential campaigns for Cord leader Raila Amolo Odinga ahead of the next general elections.

Opposition leaders in Homa Bay County have objected the naming of the incumbent Governor Cyprian Awiti to lead the campaigns, arguing that he is likely to cost the former prime minister Presidency when that time comes.

Awiti was awarded with the political outfit certificate despite rigging claims by his rival Sammy Wakiaga.

The senator said that the governors are likely to lead to a mixed as they attempt to rally the electorate to back their re-election in during the polls.

Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho and his Kilifi counterpart have also been appointed to lead campaigns in their counties ahead of August.
