I wish peace and happiness to all Christians on this Christmas Day and to all those who recognize the day’s significance to the history and destiny of humanity.

It is my hope that we use this day to reflect deeply on how we fare in making real the ideals of Christmas: service to fellow human beings, humility where the temptation to feel all- important and invincible is real and belief that eventually, our destiny is presided over by a higher being before whom all our presumed powers fade into nothing.

These ideals are at the centre of Christmas and ought to be in our thoughts as we celebrate today.
