A top Jubilee Party leader has confirmed that former Kajiado Governor David Nkedianye will join the president’s party.

Reports indicate that Jubilee had been holding talks with the ODM politician after the August 8 elections, in which he lost to Governor Joseph ole Lenku.

Lenku vied on a Jubilee ticket.

According to The Star, the governor’s close ally confirmed that Deputy President William Ruto will pay Nkedianye a visit Tuesday next week.

“My boss (Lenku) has been involved in all the meetings between Nkedianye and Deputy President. Lenku has also been having secret meetings with Nkedianye in and outside the county and President Uhuru Kenyatta and Ruto have been receiving updates from the governor,” the source was quoted by the newspaper.

Nkadianye met his ODM campaign associates on Saturday before his expected defection to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s party.

The former governor had filed a petition challenging Lenku’s win, and he has now been asked by Jubilee to drop the petition.

His departure from Raila’s party will weaken the opposition in Kajiado.

Two weeks ago, four politicians joined Jubilee from ODM.

They are Daniel Osoi, Esther Somoire, Daniel Tenaai and Kakuta Maimai.
