Hundreds of Raila Odinga supporters in Kisumu on Monday caused a stir at the Kisumu International Airport, forcing their way to see off their leaders in style.

Odinga, who was catching a flight to the capital, Nairobi, was on a weekend tour of the region, having attended the Cecafa tournament opener in Kakamega on Sunday.

Operations at the busy airport were briefly interrupted after the supporters managed to breach security at the airport and access the terminal.

The supporters are said to have forced their way into the airport after Raila failed to address them.

He had on Saturday met Kisumu County Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o and MCAs at the county assembly, as they continue pushing for the people’s assembly agenda.

He earlier in the day condemned the arrest and detainment of NASA strategist David Ndii, saying the government was now hunting for the opposition leaders.

Odinga has continued to push the Uhuru-led government, saying he does not recognize their presidency.

He has further insisted that he will be sworn in on December 12, and will push for reforms.

Odinga’s flight was scheduled to depart at 5 pm.
