Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has admitted that some of the leaders who defected to Jubilee Party from NASA did it out of frustrations.
Oparanya, who deputises Raila Odinga at the Orange party, said the defectors left the Opposition alliance bitter, feeling their bids in the last elections were sabotaged by the NASA top leadership.
"According to the reasons some shared with me, they felt that they were chased away from NASA family while others claimed that they were frustrated by NASA principals," he said, during an interview with The Standard.
The Governor added: "Some of the gubernatorial candidates claimed that NASA principals endorsed their opponents despite them campaigning for Raila Odinga."
Some of the leaders who recently jumped ship include former Kajiado Governor David Nkedianye, former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar and former MPs Paul Otuoma, Yusuf Chanzu, and others.
However, Oparanya castigated the defectors saying despite the setbacks they should have stayed in NASA due to their principles and ideologies.
"They might have been frustrated but they used the wrong methods to handle their grievances. They have joined Jubilee against the wish of the majority and this will mean difficulties on their side to deliver the votes they have promised Jubilee," he noted.
