Raila's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has already declared that it will field its own candidate against the former Deputy Speaker Farah Maalim for the Garissa Township legislative seat.
The party leader Raila Odinga has introduced Nassir Dolal alias Jofle, who narrowly lost to the incumbent Aden Duale in the 2013 elections, as the party's most preferred candidate.
This was done immediately Maalim defected from the ODM party in preference to Musyoka's Wiper party.
Even as this happens, the fallout is now a game changer for the Garissa politics given the fact that Maalim is a seasoned politician that could favorably battle out Jubilee's kingpin in the region Aden Duale.
It is no longer a closed secret that Jubilee supporters are laughing out aloud since the opposition NASA is gradually losing touch in the county.
For quite sometime now, the opposition had hailed Farah Maalim as its able contestant only to reach a tragic end. Despite the National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders showing a visibly false unity in division, Garissa opposition followers are at a political crossroad not knowing whether to support Dolal or Maalim.
However, it is never too late for the opposition to seal the loophole since the party primaries are a true confirmation as to whether ODM will stand on its two political feet of gang up with Wiper party to effect joint nominations.
In the case of joint primaries, it can be predicted that Nassir Dolal may evenntually be on the losing side as compared to Maalim.
