President Uhuru Kenyatta honored former Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Governor Ukur Yattani with an appointment to his cabinet.

However, the former Marsabit governor will wait until the National Assembly approves his name.

Yattani was proposed as a CS alongside Keriako Tobiko and John Munyes. Tobiko tendered his resignation which the President said was received and accepted.

The former governor ditched Raila’s ODM and joined the Frontier Alliance Party (FAP) that backed President Uhuru Kenyatta’s second term.

Despite the support of five Yaa Gabbra clans, he was trounced by Jubilee’s Mohamud Ali alias Abshiro, former chairman of the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF).

The veteran party KANU fronted international development consultant based in the United States of America, Umuro Sora Adano while ODM was represented by Wario Ibrahim Dambi.

Meanwhile, the president moved Education CS Fred Matiang’i to the Interior Security docket and retained Treasury CS Henry Rotich, Tourism CS Najib Balala, Energy CS Charles Keter, transport CS James Macharia and ICT CS Joseph Mucheru.
