Just a day after the release of KCSE results for the 2017 candidates, NASA leader Raila Odinga has called for dialogue geared at changing "the worrying trend of KCSE candidates failing to meet university entry grade".
The opposition leader said the government must listen to the cries of innocent candidates who failed to make it to the university cut-off bracket because of forces beyond them.
"As a society, we must listen to the cries of the candidates, the parents and teachers' unions on this matter and have a serious conversation about this worrying trend," he said in a Thursday statement.
He said something needed to be done since the country needs more skilled manpower to reach its ambitious growth goals.
"I am deeply concerned at the high number of students that are failing to make the transition to university," Raila said.
This comes after a paltry 70,073 candidates obtained the university entry mean grade of C+, with only 142 candidates getting As across the country.
