The duo's move was lauded by their lieutenants who weeks ago had taken hardline positions even as political feud pitting Jubilee and NASA soared.

However, for Raila, he will have to confront a new battle ahead: the pending by-elections in Nyanza, where his party ODM is a victim of nullified elections.

In Homa Bay County, the election of Governor Cyprian Awiti was nullified following former Kasipul MP Oyugi Magwanga'a successful appeal.

In Ugenya, former MP David Ochieng successfully appealed Chris Karan's win. And where does Raila's biggest challenge come in?

In the nullification of Karan's win, the Judge said that the former MP lost his seat because of smear campaign which the ODM Party had conducted against him .

He said that the 'Jubilee Mole' tag against Ochieng made locals turn against him and he eventually lost the seat, but now with Uhuru and Raila reading from the same page, the former lawmaker can easily pull a shock and clinch the seat at the expense of the Orange Party.

Elsewhere, in Homa Bay, Magwanga was not spared as he was accused of allegedly being sympathetic to Jubilee, but with the deal, he can easily beat Awiti and win the top county seat.
