Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria has maintained that opposition’s drive to storm the IEBC offices is a move aimed at benefitting Cord leader Raila Odinga to attain the presidency in 2017.
Speaking in his constituency on Monday, Gikaria said there is no justified reason for Cord to storm the offices and demand to have the commissioners leave office.
The lawmaker said it is a tact that has been adopted by Cord supporters to ensure that Raila emerges victorious in the 2017 general election.
“Those supporting Raila should know that he is doing all that for his own benefit because he is the person who put them there back when he was a prime minister in the coalition government,” he said.
He further warned Raila against taking such an event to Nakuru County saying Nakuru leaders will not allow him to 'poison' the minds of the region's electorate.
According to Gikaria, the IEBC is the referee and only the best team will win.
“IEBC is the referee and jubilee and Cord are players. Kenyans will decide and whoever will win is the person to take charge,” he said.
Raila and his co-principals Moses Wetangula and Kalonzo Musyoka are pushing to have the current IEBC commissioners go home alleging future foul play in the 2017 polls.
