A Nairobi lawyer whose law firm was used to file Raila Odinga's petition has caused panic among his friends after narrating how sensitive documents were stolen from him right inside the Supreme Court.
Jackson Awele who was a key member of Odinga's legal team stated that he lost critical information held in documents that were in a computer bag he had carried to court.
The lawyer, who was hailed for his brave representation of the NASA leader, indicated that the bag was deliberately stolen by an impersonator who approached his assistant under false pretences.
Awele narrated that he was among the lawyers who went to the Milimani Courts where auditing of forms 34A and 34B was being carried out. He, however, left some of his documents and computer under the care of an asistant.
On returning to the court, Odinga's lawyer was informed that a gentleman had picked the documents claiming to have been sent by Awele.
“I asked around but no one had seen the guy and unfortunately we can’t be able to get any video evidence since the Supreme Court has no CCTV cameras ,” Awele was quoted by Nairobi News .
He further indicated that he was willing to pay huge amounts of money to have his documents and data returned.
“ I lost a computer bag at the Supreme Court between 28 and 1 of September. I am offering a generous monetary figure (5 figure) for anyone with it and even more generous monetary reward to whoever can find its contents or provide information leading to the recovery of its contents,” the high profile lawyer indicated on his Facebook account.
