National Super Alliance (Nasa) presidential candidate Raila Odinga has promised to address issues affecting the girl child and young mothers should he be elected as president.Speaking during a political rally in Mathare on Sunday, the former prime minister said the girl child and most notably young mothers were going through harrowing times and promised to address their plight once he assumes office.Odinga said a Nasa government would create job opportinities for the young mothers to do apart from initiating trainings to those whose thirst for education had been disrupted as a result of pregnancies and enrolling others back to school."The girl child and young mothers are going through very hard times in this country.They have no jobs but have young babies to take care of. We have a special plan for them in Nasa government and we plan to create job opportunities for them and see to it that we have vocational trainings for those whose quest for education have been cut short as a result of unplanned pregnancies," he said.With the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission having put the number of female registered voters at an estimated 47 per cent of the 19.6 million registered voters parties across the political divide are jostling for this critical voting blic in a bid to boost their chances during the August 8 polls.
