Despite many leaders claiming that the pact between the two leaders signified the end of politics in the country, succession politics has been the order of the day.

The Vice President William Ruto's tour in the coastal region, for instance, has been dominated by 2022 succession politics.

"We fully support the deputy president's journey to the state house. We will rally our people behind him." Wundanyi MP, Danson Mwashako, on Sunday promised William Ruto at ACK St. Barnabas in Taita Taveta.

Same sentiments came from Voi Member of Parliament, Jones Mlolwa who said a joint unity between the opposition and the government would help Ruto ascend to power.

"To succeed we must sign a joint pact that will enable Ruto to ascend to power," said Mlolwa.

As the vice president continued to woe the coastal region's areas perceived to have been the opposition.s stronghold for a long time, Alfred Mutua was also looking for support for his 2022 presidential bid.

Speaking at Kapsogo market in Kabarnet during the homecoming ceremony for Baringo central MP Joshua Kandie, the Machakos governor made known his presidential bid.

"I want to make it known that in 2022 I will meet all the others on the ballot," said Dr. Mutua.

Bureti Member of Parliament, Japheth Mutai also backed the Maendeleo Chap-chap leader's 2022 presidential ambitions.

"It is too early and difficult to predict the outcome in 2022 but Mutua is fit and cable." Mr. Mutai said.

With four years to the end of Jubilee reign and only 7 months since the disputed elections, politicians seem to have had already gone back to the campaigns aimed to succeed president Uhuru Kenyatta.
