The Nasa coalition has given out new demands before the October 17 presidential polls are held.

Speaking on Monday, the coalition’s leader Raila Odinga said they will not go to the polls with the same companies that provided ballot papers and the technological aspect of the August elections.

Odinga wants the troubled French-based OT-Morpho, which provided the voter identification and results transmission kits and Dubai-based Al-Ghurair, which printed the ballot papers not to be involved in the October polls.

“Time is not a constraint here, there are about five companies we know that are ready to supply the technology and the Kiems (Kenya Integrated Elections Management System) kits in 30 days if the tender is awarded today.”

His demands come amid reports by the Morpho Company that the remaining days before the poll date will not be enough for them to deliver kits that will be used in the elections.

Odinga insisted that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission should not haste the election date, and should ensure that all factors that led to Uhuru Kenyatta declared president in an election that was annulled should be corrected.

The election date continues to raise more questions than answers, with analysts arguing that the country faces a constitutional crisis if things are not done in the right manner.
