A section of Jubilee supporters in Kilifi county wants three Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) nominated MCAs recalled with immediate effect.
According to The Star, the supporters took to the streets protesting against the nomination of the trio because of being ‘outsiders’.
The supporters said that it is unfair for the party under the leadership of Former Prime Minister, Raila Amolo Odinga, to nominate MCAs from Nyanza yet there are local residents who qualify for the same posts.
Led by former Ganze MCA Japhet Nzaro, the supporters said that they will mobilize the local residents to ‘fight’ them following their new appointments.
They also faulted the incumbent Governor Amason Kingi, who is fighting election petition, for handing over the leadership of the county to foreigners yet the region voted for NASA.
"As the people of Kilifi, who voted overwhelmingly for NASA, we are disappointed with the leadership of Raila Odinga," Nzaro said, as quoted by the local daily.
The supporters also lamented that the nominations were full of tribalism and nepotism. On his part, Kingi downplayed the allegations of Jubilee supporters, asking them to concentrate on the affairs of their party and not ODM, which commands a lot of support in the region.
