The National Super Alliance (NASA) is laying an elaborate plan that targets at raiding Rift Valley counties and harvest at least three million votes for the opposition.According to the plan, NASA envisages at garnering at least 40 percent (3.5 million) of the votes in the counties of Kericho, Bomet, Nakuru, Uasin Gishu and West Pokot. Other counties targeted include Laikipia, Isiolo and Meru and Tharaka Nithi (outside Rift Valley).Rift Valley will be one of the regions in the country where NASA’s high voltage campaigns will concentrate ahead of the August 8 general election.NASA is in the process of identifying key allies in the targeted counties to coordinate its activities and turn tables against President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party. For a start, the alliance will hold its first rally in Nakuru County on Sunday as it strategises on the best formula to propel ODM leader Raila Odinga who is presently in Israel on official visit to State House.“Raila has the capacity to turn Jubilee strongholds into battlegrounds and secure more votes,” NASA Technical Committee member and lawyer Dan Ameyo said.“He can depress votes by 40 per cent in Jubilee strongholds.”NASA officially unveiled its presidential line up on April 27 with Raila as flag bearer and Kalonzo Musyoka as his running mate.Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) is designated to become Premier Cabinet Secretary with Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya) and Isaac Ruto (CCM) as his deputies if NASA takes over government. The opposition is keen on riding on Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto one of NASA’s Pentagon members to influence voting patterns in Rift Valley especially South Rift where he comes from in its favour.Ruto has been one of Jubilee’s chief critics in Rift Valley accusing leaders of the ruling party of siphoning funds and making life unbearable.“We want a country that offers good life to all, not this one run by a few billionaires who steal our resources and stash them in China,” he said during the unveiling of NASA’s presidential flag bearer.
