NASA flag bearer Raila Odinga , Senate aspirant Eddy Oketch and Mr Salim Lone at a dinner at Links Club in New York City[Photo/twitter.com] Top adviser to Raila Odinga, Mr Salim Lone, who served him while he was the prime minister, is returning to the country to join the National Super Alliance campaign team.Mr Lone will jet back to the country this week and he has been fronted to take up the team's communication and strategic advisory role, a role he used to hold before departing according to sources privy with the arrangements. Mr Lone has worked with NASA flag bearer Odinga twice as ODM director of communications and a top political adviser to him during the campaign for the 2007 elections and as spokesman and political adviser after the bungled 2007 elections. Mr Lone is a communications expert who worked for two decades as a director of the United Nations News and Media Division under Kofi Annan until his retirement in 2003.Also during the 2010 referendum campaign for the new Constitution, his services called upon when he wad was appointed co-chair with former Trade minister Mukhisa Kituyi of the government-led Yes campaign team.Mr Lone expressed his joy on his imminent return on Monday, saying this new opportunity offers him a chance to be part of a history making team.“This is a very crucial election for our country because if Jubilee Party is re-elected it will spell trouble for our country,” he said, just before he flying ou from New York to Nairobi.
