Raila, a multiparty democracy fighter, is one of the seasoned politicians and has been in active politics for over two decades despite recent calls by a section of leaders from the government for him to retire.
And now Prof Ondigi Abaya during an interview with this reporter on Thursday hailed the former prime minister as a ‘true patriot’ with the aim of protecting the interests of Kenyans.
“I do not want to appear biased but when someone gives such a dedication to serving his people is something that we recommend. He has been on the political scene for long and I know how is presence is important,” he said.
“He knows how government works and it’s easier for him to detect anomalies especially in terms of financial management. His zeal and energy makes the government of the day to in check and that is absolutely important for all Kenyans,” he said.
Prof Ondigi also urged Raila to mentor a young man who could fit in his shoes in future in case he opts out of active politics.
