Raila Odinga on Sunday received more pressure from his supporters to have him sworn in as the Peoples’ president.

The supporters, led by Western Kenya MPs urged the NASA leader to remain steadfast, and push on with their swearing-in plans.

The event, which took place at the Kakamega town, was part of a gathering that hosted the second peoples’ assembly convention, which seeks to chart a way forward on different matters including swearing in Odinga

“We are ready to swear in Raila, how many are ready? We said when they swear-in, we also swear-in,” said Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala.

They then handed him a bible and ‘swore’ him in, saying they will not take anything less than him being the peoples’ president.

With NASA lining up several regional peoples’ assembly conventions before the main convention on January 31 in Nairobi, Odinga was forced to announce the day the swearing in will be done.

Raila promised his supporters that he will not go back on the decision this time around after his early plans were shelved with a day to the planned swearing-in date.

The Opposition has been pushing for dialogue with President Kenyatta, still disputing last year’s elections in which president Kenyatta won.

The president, on the other hand, has insisted that he will not dialogue on political matters, shutting the door on any possible meeting with the NASA leaders.  R
