NASA leader Raila Odinga has claimed that the police were responsible for the chaos that marred his return to the country on Friday.

Odinga claims the police were responsible for the death of 15 NASA supporters, in what was a chaotic Friday in Nairobi.

He said this when he visited injured NASA supporters on Saturday, among them Kathiani MP Robert Mbui.

He then visited the City Mortuary, where he claimed that many of the coalition’s supporters lay lifeless.

He blasted the state for using excessive force on unarmed citizens.

“They say that mob justice (killed the NASA supporters), which mob would be armed with guns? All that was the state’s doing. Why does the government kill its own innocent people, what wrong did we commit to come back home,” he asked when he spoke to journalists?

According to reports, there are at least 14 people admitted at the referral with various wounds from Friday’s ugly confrontations.

He further said that the skirmishes were as a result of the state fighting its own citizens.

“This was the deadliest day since the post-election violence in 2007, we have been attacked like thieves, we have been welcomed like enemies who are coming for war,” he added.

The NASA team was denied entry into JKIA to welcome Odinga, and what ensued were ugly confrontations between police and the people.
