[Photo: nation.co.ke]President Uhuru Kenyatta has rubbished allegations that the military has been deployed ahead of October 26 repeat presidential poll in NASA strongholds, where the coalition's de facto leader Raila Odinga, has told supporters to boycott the same.Uhuru, with only 3 days to the poll, termed the allegation by NASA as 'propaganda aimed at creating fear' saying that his administration is clear on the role of every security agency. "We have no intention of using the military to suppress the democratic will of the people. It is just a scaremongering rumour with no basis. They made the same allegations ahead of August 8 General election but I want a single individual to provide evidence of where the military was deployed," Uhuru told Citizen TV on Sunday during a pre-recorded interview. "Our military is deployed to protect our borders which define Kenya's sovereign integrity. The police and other internal security agencies are the ones deployed to oversee security during polls," he added.Uhuru also denied reports that the government has used excessive force on NASA demonstrators during the anti-IEBC demos saying that the 'police have not cracked down on protesters but on rioters'.He noted that there is a 'big difference' between peaceful demonstrators and rioters who 'steal, rob and destroy' other people's properties."My government will not and will never deny Kenyans their rights as enshrined in the Constitution. In fact, they have nothing to fear in exercising their those rights. We, however, will not allow riots, death under the guise of peaceful demos that end up impacting negatively on other citizens' rights," asserted the President. He also affirmed that the State is ready and prepared to guarantee safety and security to those who will vote and those who won’t say that 'people's desires must be respected'.
