Opposition chief Raila Odinga has reportedly planned to meet two MPs from his Siaya County backyard, in a bid to calm tension that is brewing in the region.
The Nasa presidential candidate has planned to meet Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo and Siaya gubernatorial aspirant Nicholas Gumbo over the chaos that marred a Nasa rally in Rarieda.
The two legislators have been accused of funding the chaos.
The rally was aborted after Raila called for six piece voting – in favour of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidates.
"I came to Rarieda to request you to vote for ODM candidates. Kindly make it a 'six-piece' suit plan," Raila told the resident during the rally.
Both Midiwo and Gumbo are vying as independent candidates after losing in ODM primaries, which they said were shambolic.
Addressing a crowd during his tour of Siaya County yesterday, Raila promised to end the hostility through a meeting with his disgruntled cousin (Midiwo), who left ODM to vie as an independent candidate.
The meeting will be Raila's attempt at striking a deal that should convince the two to cease the onslaught and join his bid to oust Jubilee from power.
This comes after the Luo Council of Elders warned Raila that his call for six-piece voting might create voter apathy in his stronghold, leading to his defeat come August 8.
The council’s chairman, Opiyo Otondi, said the chaos were a threat to Raila's presidential bid.
Mr Otondi said violence could discourage the other communities that are supporting Raila's presidential bid from voting.
He told those campaigning for Raila to win them over independent candidates, instead of using harsh language against them.
"Leaders and members of other communities have kindheartedly agreed to support Raila but what happened is unfortunate," said Mr Otondi.
