NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga has claimed that he will resign on the very day if elected as president, if Mike Sonko will win the Nairobi gubernatorial seat.
Speaking in Nairobi on Saturday during a rally, Odinga, in what was seen as a push to have the city supporters vote for Kidero said the town will be in bad hands with Sonko at the helm.
“If Sonko is the governor and I am elected as the president, I will resign on the very day,” said Odinga.
According to Odinga, a Sonko victory against the incumbent Evans Kidero of the ODM party will be a big blow to the presidency he is seeking on a NASA ticket.
The Nairobi gubernatorial race is a tight contest between incumbent Evans Kidero and Senator Mike Sonko.
The Jubilee party has vowed to ensure they capture the governor’s seat from ODM, whom recent polls put slightly ahead of the senator.
Peter Kenneth and Miguna Miguna have also vowed to send the two leaders home, saying they have done nothing in the past 4 years that they have led the city.
