Luo Council of Elders has once again reaffirmed their position regarding the presidential bid of the community's undisputed political kingpin Raila Odinga.
According to the elders, calls for the Cord leader to shelve his presidential bid in support of any of his co-principals are uncalled for.
The elders maintain that Raila is the best placed candidate to deliver the elusive Presidency in 2017 because they believe that the ODM leader enjoys support across all parts of the country.
"How do you expect Lake Victoria to find its way to River Nyando? It's vice versa and that is why the two leaders should support Raila in 2017 because he has huge support," the elders' chairman Willis Otondi said.
This comes at a time when pressure is continuing to mount on Raila Odinga from his coalition co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula asking him to support them.
But while addressing a rally in Kisumu on Saturday, Raila said he is ready to face his co-principals in the party nominations and that whoever carries the day will get full backing from others.
Cord coalition has been shaky in the past few days amid concerns of who will fly the coalition's flag in 2017.
