Raila who was campaigning in Kajiado County said Uhuru should focus at bolstering Jubilee campaigns as the two prepare to tussle out during a repeat presidential poll on October 17.
“You heard Uhuru yesterday (Saturda) say that the opposition is broke,” he said at Kitengela.
“All over the world, campaigns are funded by individuals who voluntarily give money to aspirants. [Former US President Barack] Obama’s campaigns were funded by American themselves. So why is he upset with our fundraising campaign?”
NASA on September 8 appealed for financial support to facilitate its campaigns activities.
Raila shared a paybill number (991444) through which its supporters can contribute money to facilitate its campaigns for the fresh presidential polls ordered by the Supreme Court following the nullification of Uhuru’s re-election.
But Uhuru who spoke at Uhuru Park on Saturday during a Jubilee rally faulted the fundrive claiming the money Raila received from opposition governors had run out.
“Now they have started collecting public funds because what they used to steal is lost,’ the head of State said.
“The money will now be used to upgrade drainage systems, street lighting, water supply and give jobs to our youth.”
