NASA leader Raila Amolo Odinga has warned Kenyans against being distracted by politicians claiming that he will contest in 2022. In a statement sent to newsrooms by Dennis Onyango, Raila’s spokesman, Raila said that he did not make it clear that he will be on the ballot paper when that time comes.

He further said that those leaders claiming that he will go for the nation’s top seat are doing so in their own capacities. He further said that the fact that COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli supported his handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta does not reveal his political stand. 

“The views ought to be seen in the same light with those of COTU Secretary General Mr. Francis Atwoli who, on May 1, asked for what he called a soft-landing for President Kenyatta after the President’s term ends. The COTU leader was certainly not speaking for the President, “reads part of the statement from the opposition.

Former Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has maintained that he will contest for Presidency. Raila is considered one of the greatest threats to the second in command. Ruto will have it tough winning the Presidency if Raila is also among the contestants.
