Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa has asked Coast residents to exercise patience as they wait for NASA leader Raila Odinga to be sworn in.Jumwa said NASA was in the process of planning the programme for the swearing in, which will be made public once complete.Speaking at her residence in Kakuyuni Malindi on Thursday, Jumwa said the recent deliberations made during the Coast region’s people’s assembly meeting shall bear fruits. She said the top NASA leadership led by ODM executive director Oduor Ong'wen and Siaya Senator James Orengo made it clear that Raila would be sworn in as Kenya’s President.“Coast people should have faith that one day it would be fulfilled,” said Jumwa. On the issue of secession, Jumwa said Coast leaders will stand firm, adding that they will follow the law in ensuring the region achieves self-rule.She said residents in the region are tired of being marginalised by the current and past regimes.“We want our voices to be heard we are bringing back power to the people,” she said.On Sunday, Ong'wen announced that Raila will be sworn in whether Jubilee likes it or not. He, however, did not disclose when the ceremony will be held.He said the people's assemblies are not meant to replace the county assemblies but are meant to give sovereign power back to the people as guaranteed by the constitution. The idea of swearing in Raila has faced resistance from the Jubilee government with President Uhuru Kenyatta warning against using unconstitutional means to air grievances.Attorney General Githu Muigai also weighed in on the matter, saying Raila will be committing an act of high treason if he accepts to be sworn in.
