Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago says National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders’ endorsement boosted his re-election bid.

Mandago trounced his opponent, Bundotich Buzeki, to retain the governor seat on a Jubilee Party ticket.

Buzeki was vying as an independent candidate, after losing in the party primaries.

Speaking to the press, the governor said he would not have won without the endorsement by Raila Odinga’s team

"I want to congratulate the Nasa team for saying 'Mandago tibim' had they not said so, I would not have won the elections. Their supporters should relax because in my next term, I will cater for the needs of all irrespective of whether you voted for me or not," said Mandago, as quoted by The Standard.

Prior to the elections, Nasa leaders Kalonzo Musyoka, Isaac Ruto, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula asked Uasin Gishu locals to vote for Mandago.

A day later, the governor endorsed ODM candidate for Langas ward MCA post.

Uasin Gishu county voted overwhelmingly for Jubilee Party and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
