The National Super Alliance now plans to throat-drive President Uhuru Kenyatta into upholding the rule of law even as the government crackdown on Opposition leaders who took part in Raila Odinga’s swearing-in continues.
A group of ten NASA MPs have issued President Kenyatta with a 48 hours ultimatum to stop the ongoing blatant defiance of court orders and flagrant abuse of power.
They said if the head of state fails to honour their demands, they were going to declare a state of civil disobedience.
According to them, the next step on their plan to reciprocate the government’s actions is to ask all Opposition supporters to stop cooperating with any government agency and ignore the law until the Government stops the arbitrary arrest of leaders critical of Jubilee regime.
National Assembly Minority Leader John Mbadi, said it is increasingly becoming difficult for citizens to obey the law when the Government has "effectively suspended the rule of law and buried the Constitution without declaring so."
Their remarks came in the backdrop of the surprise deportation of one of NASA’s abrasive activists in recent times Miguna Miguna.
The Opposition lawmakers described Tuesday night's deportation of NRM ‘general 'the height of impunity' by President Kenyatta led government.
"Kenya is a democracy and not anarchy and if this trend does not stop immediately, then beginning this weekend, we shall ask all currently law-abiding citizens to stop obeying those laws, stop cooperating with law enforcement agencies, and stop cooperating with the Government and government agencies," MP Mbadi said.
