Opposition leader Raila Odinga after all had no intention of holding a memorial rally at Jacaranda grounds in Eastland suburbs on Nairobi, reveals lawyer Nelson Havi.

After hide and seek with the government, NASA had settled on Kibra as the venue for the controversial rally despite making President Uhuru Kenyatta believe that they were to convene at Jacaranda.

“Sometimes when you deal with myopic people, they always succumb to your plans. We made them believe that we were to be in Jacaranda,” he said.

Although it was a stage-managed rally, the confrontations did not, however, spare innocent civilians as police reportedly killed five unarmed NASA supporters.

With police having dispersed a gathering along Manyanja Road, Odinga’s convoy quickly sped to Kibra where they, later on, addressed a mammoth crowd.

“We know well their weaknesses and we shall always score them. We are however sad that they went on to kill unarmed people despite us not holding a rally there.”

Coinciding with Uhuru’s inauguration, police have cordoned off all routes to Jacaranda at least until the inauguration ceremony was over.
