Many people moving into town are stuck in the traffic brought about by the morning rush and the heavy rains. More so, many vehicles are stuck on the roads due to floods. However, those who made their way into the city had to remove shoes to pass through the flooded pavements or rather pay to be airlifted to safer grounds.

The poor drainage systems in the city are to blame for these floods. The problem of poor drainage in the city has faced both the national and the county governments for decades. The heavy downpour will affect nearest slum areas where Nairobi River passes as it’s flooded to the brim.

According to the Kenya Meteorological Department, these rains will continue in most parts of the country. The heavy rains will come with many devastating effects and people are warned to be vigilant.

Most areas likely to be affected are Nairobi and Mt Kenya regions. However, such parts like Kwale, Nakuru, Kajiado, Kakamega, Migori, Kericho, Kisii, Bomet and Narok are also expected to receive heavy rain. Other parts of the country are already experiencing heavy rains.
