The Kenya Building Construction Timber and Furniture Industry Employees Union has condemned corruption cases at the Syokimau's China Roads and Bridges Cooperation (CRBC).
Addressing journalists at Syokimau on Friday, the union's representative Joe Macharia said they had received numerous corruption allegations against the management.
"The union has lot of pending cases on corruption from both employees and those seeking employment in the company,” said Macharia.
Macharia disclosed they were investigating an office clerk at the company's Human Resource Department whose name had been adversely mentioned by the complainants for corruption.
He said it had severally been reported that the clerk was soliciting bribe of Sh5,000 from job seekers.
The officer said the senior staff also allegedly forced job seekers to disclose their tribes and their home county before taking the bribe.
Macharia cited a case where one, Erickson Ongidi, a job seeker, sent him a text message urging him to push the company’s top management to give him a job since he had paid the bribe.
According to the text seen by this reporter, Ongidi allegedly paid Sh5,000 to the clerk three months ago but he is yet to be employed.
According to the unionist, the man is frustrated. He has been visiting the company for months but he has been denied access hence cannot reach the person whom he claims swindled his money.
Efforts to reach either the clerk or the company were fruitless since journalists were denied access to the company by security agents manning the main entrance.
