Kenyan Premier League (KPL) outfit Posta Rangers are craving for silverware and have consequently drafted six players ahead of the season to aid in their course.

Posta has finished fourth in their last two campaigns, often fading off in the later stages and the additions are tipped to bolster the mailmen and cure the malaise. Danson Kago headlines the list of Posta recruits as he joins from Tusker where he won the league in 2016.

The diminutive winger penned a three year deal at Posta and is one of four midfielders recruited by Sammy Omolo. Kariobangi Sharks midfielder Calvin Odong has also decamped to Posta on a three-year deal as has Thika United’s abrasive holding midfielder Suleiman Ngotho. Rookie Nakuru All Stars player Peter Nga’nga’ completes the midfield acquisitions by Posta.

Having groomed the best defense in the league last season, Omolo has added Nakumatt’s hard-tackling Kennedy Onyango into his backline while highly-rated Marcellus Ingotsi joins from AFC Leopards.

Omolo believes the additions will strengthen the team and help Posta bag silverware in 2018. He said: “We are not far off those clubs that came out with silverware in 2017.

“We also have brought in players with considerable experience in Kago and Odongo so there seems to be a good balance from the back all the way to striking. Ingotsi is very good and I know that showing faith in him will propel him further to reach the heights he’s destined for,” added Omolo.

Posta finished 23 points behind league winners Gor Mahia, an outcome which would have been different had they won more games. The mailmen won just 11 of 34 games played while drawing 18. A bigger win rate would have seen them finish higher as second-placed Sofapaka only mustered 55 points to Posta’s 51.
