Former Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma on Tuesday took to the dock as the first witness in an election petition case he is challenging the election of Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang Nyong’o.
Ranguma told Judge David Majanga that he on and his election was stolen.
He narrated to the court how the third respondent Nyong’o, carried out a propaganda campaign to malign his name before and during the election to ensure he lost.
“My Lord I was branded anti-ODM party,” he said
He said Nyong’o colluded with the first respondent (IEBC) Presiding Officers to block his agents from accessing some polling stations giving an example of Kobura primary in Nyando.
He also alleged cases of voter bribery and collusion between agents of ODM and IEBC officials.
Ranguma accused some IEBC officials of taking a proactive step to ensure that Nyong’o won in the election which included influencing those who were in the queue to vote Nyong’o.
He further alleged that voters were allowed to cast more than one ballot in some stations
Ranguma is represented by lawyer Richard Onsongo.
Governor Nyong’o is represented by Hon James Orengo and Hon Antony Oluoch.
IEBC and the Returning Officer John Lorionokou are represented by advocate Edwin Mukele
