Kisumu governor Jack Ranguma has called on the National Assembly Deputy Speaker Joyce Laboso to consider vying for the Kisumu gubernatorial seat in 2017, instead of vying in Bomet.
Ranguma challenged the Sotik lawmaker to give Bomet governor Isaac Ruto an ample time to seek re-election.
He said Laboso is married in Nyakach, Kisumu County, a move that gives her the advantage to vie in Kisumu.
"I want to tell Laboso to come and battle it out with me in Kisumu 2017. She is married in Kisumu and that makes her my resident. Give my brother Ruto good time to serve the people of Bomet and welcome to Kisumu,'' Ranguma said Sunday, at the IAAF stadium, Bomet.
However in a quick rejoiinder, the Jubilee lawmaker castigated Ranguma's calls, saying nothing will stop her from unseating the Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) party leader.
"I have been serving the people of Sotik for several years now. Nobody has said they are tired of me. This means the people of Bomet still want me. Even though I am married in Kisumu, nothing stops me from vying in Bomet. I will still represent my people," said Laboso.
