Kisumu County governor Jack Ranguma has asked the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to solve inter-county boundary issue that might pose as potential conflicts.

Speaking in Kisumu on Wednesday, Governor Ranguma urged NCIC to solve the boundary issues that Kisumu county has with Kericho, Vihiga and Nandi Counties.

"Kericho wants to collect revenue from businesses in Sondu Market. We have tried to sort this issue, but we also want the NCIC to look at these areas and put a clear indications on boarder lines to avoid possible conflicts,” said Governor Ranguma.

He added, "The boundaries need to be observed by all county leaders as they are, we want our people to leave in harmony and peace."

Kisumu County Governor also said that initially Kisumu County had conflicts with Nandi county over cattle rustling.

"Our people have been killed along Nandi-Kisumu border. But we have been holding several peace meetings to bring harmony between our people, an initiative we believe will end the conflict soon. We are Kenyans, one Nation boundary or no boundary we are one. Let no boundaries tear us apart. County boundaries should be considered imaginary,” said Ranguma. 

Governor Ranguma said that Luo and Luhya communities in Maseno have been living in harmony for years.

"I do not know why the problem is arising now. Institutions such as Maseno Mission Hospital is a share facility by the two counties," said Ranguma.

He added, "Kisumu donates two doctors while Vihiga has donated one doctor. We both donate nurses and give medical facilities for the smooth running of the hospital."
