The governor said that politicians in the region were peddling lies over some of the initiatives making them to be redirected elsewhere or stopped altogether, a loss that is eventually felt by the common man.

Ranguma expressed his displeasure in the manner area leaders were denying Kisumu residents projects worth billions of shillings because they felt the governor was using them to gain political mileage.

“We must reduce politics and give development a chance as leaders. Area leaders must stop blocking development and instead complement my efforts by pushing for more of such initiatives on the ground,” said Ranguma.

The governor asked locals to protect the initiatives as it would benefit them directly and not the selfish interests of other politicians.

“Kisumu was to benefit from construction of a fish factory in Kabonyo in Nyando constituency under the economic stimulus programme but bad politics led to its relocation to Sagana,” said Ranguma.

He added that recently, Nyando MP Fred Outa went around hitting at him over the projects he had brought to the county, among them the mechanisation of agriculture for rice farmers.

Other projects in Kisumu that have stalled or moved to other regions allegedly because of politics include the relocation of the infamous Kachok dump site and construction of a Sh280 million eye clinic.
