Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma has called for a cordial working relationship between the County Assembly and the executive.
Ranguma said the county will progress positively if there is a good working relation between the two arms of the county government.
He said the executive and the legislature must pull ideas together that can transform the county.
"The executive and the Assembly cannot work in isolation, we must pull together to be able to realize development for our people," he said.
While addressing the Assembly on Friday during its opening after the MCAs returned from a long recess, Ranguma said working together will benefit millions of Kisumu residents.
He said the county government has rolled out a number of projects that will transform the lives of locals.
Ranguma said such projects will only succeed if the MCAs tone down on empty rhetoric.
"The county government has transformed the lives of many locals and we have a number of projects on-going, what we need is support from the MCAs for the better realization of these projects," he said.
He said MCAs must now put aside their selfish and partisan squabbles and work for the electorate before the country goes to the polls.
The governor said the squabbles witnessed in the Assembly in the recent past will only have long-term effects on service delivery to the residents.
