He said although the people of Kisumu had the right to picket to demand the disbandment of the IEBC, it was wrong to loot and destroy property as this will scare investors.

"We have realized significant economic growth because of the peace and tranquility we have built in the recent years," he said.

"We must jealously guard our economy by ensuring that our demonstrations remain peaceful and non-violent."

This comes amid complainants from the businesses community from the county raising concern that demonstrators took advantage of the melee to loot from them.

However, the governor was quick to criticize the police brutality that has characterized the demonstrations from day one.

He said the police have no right to fire live bullets to the protesters and demanded that the police responsible for the killings of two protesters in Kisumu should be arraigned in court and charged.

Kisumu People's Voice of Reason Chairman Audi Ogada  condemned police brutality that led to the death of some people with scores injured.
