Kisumu governor Jack Ranguma has hinted at vying as an independent candidate during the forthcoming general elections.
The governor made the resolution following an announcement made on Saturday by ODM National Elections Board chair Judith Pareno that Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o had won the Kisumu governorship ODM nominations.
In a quick rejoinder, Ranguma urged his supporters to remain calm as he charts the way forward.
“You will get another opportunity to express your popular will in an election whose outcome is not predetermined,” Ranguma said.
A similar decision was made by Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo who was eyeing the Siaya governorship seat on an ODM Party ticket.
He lost to the incumbent governor Cornel Rasanga.
The legislator has since accused the Orange Party of rigging him out, claiming that the primaries in the county were marred with massive irregularities.
“I believe I still have an opportunity to beat him (Rasanga) again in the August 8 elections and I will do it,” a confident Gumbo said on Saturday.
