Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma has defended his deputy Ruth Odinga over claims that she was undermining him.
The governor lashed out at Ms Odinga’s critics saying that they were out to demoralise her morale towards delivering to Kisumu residents.
Ranguma was reacting to claims by a section of Kisumu MCAs that Ruth Odinga, Cord leader Raila Odinga’s sister, was undermining his leadership.
Ms Odinga, however, refuted the claims, saying that her critics were just out to divert negative attention towards her.
“I am in good working relationship with my able deputy Odinga and we are committed towards working together to change the lives of the residents.
“We have never had any wrangles in the governor’s office since we entered office, “said Ranguma.
Speaking during a morning prayer session at the county offices on Thursday, Ranguma urged the Kisumu MCAs to concentrate on passing bills aimed at developing the lakeside county and delivering to residents and avoid politicking on every decision made by the county government.
“Kisumu residents are really keeping us on check to ensure that we deliver on our entire pre-promised manifesto.
That is why we need to make good use of the few years we have left and address the issues that are affecting our residents today.”
