Ranguma termed as propaganda the claims that he sacrificed Ombara as the City Manager for selfish gain.

He said he promoted Ms Ombara to head the Lake Front and Urban Renewal project contrary to reports that he sacked her.

The Governor said that it is his duty to make changes in his government noting that he will continue to promote those officers who are hard working.

“Some people were peddling propaganda that I sacked Ombara, I want to make it clear that I indeed promoted her to head another docket. Ignore those rumor mongers,” he said.

Speaking at Kondele on Saturday during a fund raising for women, Ranguma said his government will not frustrate women in leadership.

Kisumu County Assembly nominated MCA Pamela Odhiambo told the Governor that one of his inner circle MCAs incited MCAs at the Assembly over Ombara issue.

“We the MCAs of Kisumu acted on a misleading signal. I know you Mr Governor as a defender of women in leadership and I was really wondering how you could sack Ombara,” she said.

Ms Odhiambo said the MCA gave the wrong information concerning Ombara and apologised to the Governor for the spat the MCAs had with his office.

The MCAs on Thursday protested at the move to sack Ombara claiming her tribulations are over tenders at the Kisumu Urban Project worth Sh4 billion.
