Prof Nyong’o’s consultative meeting with farmers was scuttled after rowdy youths disrupted the meeting.

However, Ranguma said it was very unfortunate for the senator to link him with such activities.

Ranguma said he is not the type that sponsors political violence noting that the political tranquility Kisumu is currently enjoying is because of his efforts to ensure Kisumu people shun violence.

He challenged Nyong’o to provide evidence linking him with the violence instead of making unfounded claims meant to divert attention from his political woes.

“Nyong’o as a respectable and experienced politician, must stop this arrogant, divisive and dirty politics of mudslinging,” he said.

He noted that Senator Nyong’o must learn to respect other leaders and welcomed him into the Kisumu gubernatorial race in 2017 and must be prepared to face competition and explain to the Kisumu County residents what he has done for them in his more than 20 years in leadership and particularly three years as a Senator.

He further noted that the matter of privatization was already taken to Court by all governors in Kenya, so Nyong’o and allies must not hijack the issue of privatization of local sugar industries.

“This is a national concern that requires multi-faceted approach and must not be used for cheap political mileage," he said.
